For Max Verstappen, the chances of winning a world title in Formula 1 have never been better than this season. The Dutchman currently has a five-point lead over rival Lewis Hamilton, but Verstappen realises that he still has a long way to go.

Verstappen is in his sixth season as a driver for Red Bull Racing. Although connoisseurs have been predicting a world title for him for years, he hasn't had the car to compete with Mercedes in recent seasons. That has changed this season, however, as first place looks to be in the cards.

"It has been a goal my whole life since karting," the driver states in an interview with Autocar.co.uk. "You dream of getting into Formula 1, but you're there to win, not just to compete. At some point, you hope to be able to fight for the title, and let’s say you get that opportunity and win, it would basically complete the mission. But I know it's not going to be easy, so we just need to keep being very focused and looking at it race by race and then see where we end up."

Future vision of Verstappen

Due to the new regulations, Verstappen finds it difficult to say how the teams will compare to each other in 2025. "It's difficult to say what's going to happen by then: there are a lot of question marks about how things are going to evolve. I don't mind as long as it’s the fastest one out there."
