Another dramatic weekend for AlphaTauri in Russia. For the second race in a row, the team scored zero points and Alpine, with whom the team is fighting for fifth place in the championship, is increasingly distancing themselves from it. Pierre Gasly is a harsh critic of his team.

Can't afford mistakes

For AlphaTauri it already went wrong during qualifying. Gasly finished 12th and teammate Yuki Tsunoda 13th. It wasn't often this season that Gasly didn't make it to Q3. The Frenchman was very disappointed because getting to Q3 seemed quite possible.

"It's questionable how we handle things, because I know we have a smart group of people in this team," Gasly's harsh assessment on Formule1.co.uk read. "Unfortunately this weekend things went wrong and we let a lot of points go to waste. We can't afford to make mistakes like this again if we want to go for fifth in the championship."

Zero score was deserved

According to Gasly, things went wrong in the race when the rain came down. "We drove the whole first stint in front of Bottas, but in the second stint we ended up behind Bottas. Then the rain came and they [Mercedes] brought him in while we kept driving. He finished fifth, we were out of the points. So yes... The pace was there again, but yes, we made too many mistakes and we didn't deserve to score points this weekend."
