Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton are still close to each other in the world championship. Jan Lammers therefore still finds it difficult to judge which driver has the best chances for a world title, he tells in the NOS Formula 1 Podcast.

The former driver is impressed by the drivers of Mercedes and Red Bull Racing. Whereas Verstappen was still leading the world championship before the Russian Grand Prix, Hamilton took over with his hundredth victory. In the coming races, Red Bull will have the advantage again, so it can still go either way.

Verstappen does good business in Russia

Lammers saw Verstappen put in an excellent performance in Russia by driving from last place to second. "In my opinion, you win your championship during your worst races. If your bad race is a dropout, like with Max who was twice without points, that's when it comes."

"In Russia, he picked up a grid penalty, so it must be a bad race," Lammers continued. "If your worst race is a second place, then that might be a harbinger. What is that going to be like for Lewis later on when he picks up his grid penalty? You can doubt if he's going to be second then because it's just difficult."
