After a long period without points for Williams, the team scored points in four of the last five races. In Hungary and Belgium even with both cars. It seems that the winner of nine Constructors' titles and seven Drivers' titles is slowly starting to find its way back up the ladder.

Williams isn't so bad

In 2018 through 2020, Williams finished tenth and last in the championship. In total, the team scored just eight points in three years. This season, the counter is already at 23 points. George Russell is often pointed to as the main reason for the current success, but Max Verstappen thinks it's not just down to the young Brit.

"George is definitely a very good driver and he did a great job, but if you can do things like this, it shows that the car is not as bad as people think," said the Dutchman at Motorsportweek.com. "Of course it's not Red Bull or Mercedes, but they can score points and do good qualifying."

Feeling comfortable in the car

"In the end, the most important thing is that you feel comfortable in the car and that it suits you and that you go fast," the Dutchman believes. Russell will switch from Williams to Mercedes next season, a much bigger team. "It doesn't matter if there are four hundred or a thousand people working at the team, you get used to that. When you're in the car, you think about your lap times and you want to drive as fast as possible. A good driver can handle this kind of thing very easily."
