Sebastian Vettel has become something of a mentor to Mick Schumacher, just as Michael Schumacher was to Vettel. The Aston Martin driver praised Schumacher for his first year in Formula 1 and for the way he handles his car.

Both Germans were confirmed with their teams for 2022 in recent weeks. "It's very difficult with the car. Everyone knows it's the weakest car in the field", Vettel stresses about Schumacher's Haas on Motorsport-Total.com. "And then to still stay calm and show the consistency and also the motivation ... We are talking more often and I think he has pushed the whole team, even if the starting position is not easy."

The four-time world champion is therefore hoping that Haas can give him a better car in 2022. So far, Schumacher has not finished in the points once, but he does beat teammate Nikita Mazepin in convincing fashion.

Schumacher is happy that he can count on the company of Vettel in the coming year. "It's nice that we are still motorhome neighbours. So I'm looking forward to that and we'll probably have a barbecue or two."

"When we're next door to each other with the motorhome, there's a bit of time together," Vettel reveals. "It's definitely nice that the contact remains so active. I've always said that I'm open to any tips I can give. Whether they are always useful is another question. But I'm happy to give them."
