The Turkish Grand Prix looked set to be the scene of this season's championship battle between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton. Instead, Valtteri Bottas was the big man with an excellent first-place finish. David Tremayne really enjoyed the Finn's performance.

The journalist from the official Formula 1 website tells Bottas has been performing extremely well in recent races. Since he announced with Mercedes that he will be racing for Alfa Romeo next season, the pressure seems to be off his shoulders. Compared to Hamilton and Verstappen he has scored more points than either of them.

"Last weekend he reminded everyone just what he can do," states Tremayne. "In conditions in which one might have expected Max to rise to the occasion and beat him. Instead, he dominated the Dutchman, and everybody else. Yes, Lewis beat him in qualifying but had to take that 10 grid-place drop as his ICE had been replaced."

Turkey GP suits Bottas well

Bottas had an excellent start to the race in Turkey. Where he started at the front due to Hamilton's grid penalty, he then managed to keep Verstappen behind him. In the remainder of the race, the Finn didn't do anything crazy, putting him on the highest podium.
