Hamilton is favourite: 'Mercedes were too superior in Turkey'

Mercedes and Red Bull Racing will fight for pole position during the United States Grand Prix. While Max Verstappen is in first place in the world championship, Ralf Schumacher expects a tough fight for the Dutchman this weekend.
The German team impressed two weeks ago during the Turkish GP. Mercedes' top speed was so high during the weekend that panic even started to set in behind the scenes at Red Bull.
Schumacher frequently gave his support to Red Bull in recent months but also sees that Mercedes seem to be getting into better shape. "At the moment I'm putting my money on Hamilton," he told Sport1. "Mercedes was just too superior in Turkey. Red Bull absolutely has to find something to overtake again. Otherwise I see it bad for Verstappen."
Important role for Perez and Bottas
The former driver believes that the decision of the title battle is not only in the hands of Verstappen and Hamilton, but that Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez also play a crucial role. "It will also be crucial how much influence the teammates can have. But Bottas was also stronger than Perez in the last races. He has to stop this trend now."
