Hamilton on pole, Verstappen on the dirty side | Qatar GP provisional grid
- GPblog.com
Lewis Hamilton made a big gap to Max Verstappen in qualifying for the Qatar Grand Prix. The Brit took pole position with a gap of almost half a second. Verstappen will start next to him from the front row of the grid in P2.
Valtteri Bottas completes the top three. Tomorrow it will become clear if Verstappen will suffer from the dirty side of the track. The Alpha Tauri drivers are doing well again. Pierre Gasly managed to classify himself high in P4 again and Yuki Tsunoda also starts from the top ten.
Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon also do a good job for their team with fifth and ninth place. Carlos Sainz will start from P7 for Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel completes the top ten.
The surprises of the day this week come in a negative way from Sergio Perez, Charles Leclerc and Daniel Ricciardo. The three drivers all missed Q3 and will have to play catch-up on Sunday.
