Red Bull Racing needs Sergio Perez more than ever in the next two races. Not only is he important for the Constructors' Championship, he can also help Max Verstappen win the world title. The Mexican has no problem sacrificing himself, he told Canal Plus.
The world championship number four knows how important the title fight is. "Verstappen is the driver of the moment, he is very strong," Perez stressed. "It's not easy to be his teammate, but I think I'm doing a good job. Whether it's a stressful season? Yes, of course. We are approaching the end, but there is still a lot to do."
Perez is ready to help Verstappen
The pressure on Perez's shoulders was high at the start of the season. Like Pierre Gasly and Alexander Albon, he failed to put down a stable first season. Despite this, Perez remains confident in his own qualities.
"I would have liked to win more races, but I have had to adapt to the team. It's quite a process with such a competitive car. It took a bit longer than I expected. Max is the one fighting for the championship. I have no problem helping him, because it's in everyone's interest."
