Sainz delighted at Ferrari: "It’s difficult to say"

Carlos Sainz is having a solid first season at Ferrari. The Spaniard stays close to teammate Charles Leclerc and Sainz himself says he feels a lot more confident in the car.
Sainz closer to the limit
Sainz looks back very satisfied with the last triple-header in which he managed to score points for Ferrari time and time again. "In Mexico every stint, session, every time I was on track was good. It’s difficult to say but I feel like lately in the second half of the season, even the weekends that I’m not at 100%, I’m still closer to the limit than I was in the first half," Sainz revealed at The Race.
"It’s good news and now I just want to feel like that every weekend", Sainz continued. The Spaniard feels the difference especially in the first free practice of a weekend, because in the beginning of the season it was sometimes a big surprise how the car reacted on certain circuits. "Now kind of FP1, FP2s feel a bit more natural and it means that I have a bit less work going into Friday and Saturday."
The battle for fifth place
Sainz is still in the thick of the battle for fifth place among the drivers. The Spaniard is 6.5 points behind teammate Charles Leclerc. Lando Norris has one point more than the Monegasque. Sainz is also one of the two drivers who finished every race in 2021. The other driver who has seen the finish line in every race is Antonio Giovinazzi.
