The tight walls in Monaco mean high costs for the teams every year. Small mistakes are punished hard and the wall is inevitable. In the first free practice, the first driver already found the wall. Fernando Alonso couldn't find his grip in the last corner and sent the car into the wall.

The double world champion drove away and after a careful lap of Monaco he was able to park his car in the garage without major damage. A new front wing was required, but the Spaniard was back on the track towards the end of the session.
