Helmut Marko on varying performance of Sergio Perez in f1

Marko comes to a painful conclusion: 'McLaren has stronger driver duo'

Red Bull Racing has been leading the Constructors' Championship all season, until recently. McLaren has taken over this lead as both drivers Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris are able to consistently score points. Red Bull's advisor Helmut Marko has explained how the drivers' performance has contributed to this.

Sergio Perez has faced many challenges and criticism since moving to Red Bull and racing alongside World Champion Max Verstappen. Now that both Verstappen and Perez are struggling with their car, Red Bull has lost the lead in the constructors' championship.

McLaren has a stronger driver duo than Red Bull

Helmut Marko is aware of the Mexican driver's inconsistent results. "Perez's results fluctuate, we know that. Especially when the car is changed in a short time, he needs more time to adapt," Marko said in an interview with RTL/ntv and Sport.de.

McLaren's drivers do not suffer from such fluctuations in performance in the same way that Perez does, something that Marko is keeping an eye on. "That is definitely a factor why McLaren is currently stronger than us when it comes to the driver duo. In terms of speed, Perez can do it. He just performs intermittently and that is becoming more and more unpredictable."
