Lando Norris on criticism about his ego
20 November at 18:00

Lando Norris has not only found himself in a title battle against Max Verstappen, but also in the spotlight that comes with that. The driver who currently sits in P2 in the drivers' standings reflected on the criticism he faces because of his ego.

"When people think my ego is too big or something, it couldn't be further from the truth, especially when I'm driving," the British driver told The Race.

On social media, fans are quick to jump on interviews the Briton gave throughout the year, when he is participating in his first title battle, and often dig up quotes from the past. Norris acknowledged he has made mistakes at times, but that doesn't show his personality. "Maybe sometimes I choose the wrong words or something, and people somehow use that against me."

He continued: "I think there's more and more people in the world who either don't want to listen to the truth, and sometimes when I say the truth or facts people just don't want to agree with them, or they want to disagree and kind of prove me wrong."

Criticised for no reason?

According to the Briton driver, he is left surprised as he believes he is heavily criticised for no reason. Especially given that when he makes a mistake, he does not shy away from that post-race. "I don't mind people having different opinions, but stating incorrect things is probably the thing that I don't understand, and probably the thing that gets to me the most." Still, he also underlined he has a healthy support system he relies on.

Entering the final tripleheader, Norris is in a difficult situation in the drivers' standings, as Max Verstappen could already be crowned champion this weekend in Las Vegas. Currently, the gap stands at 62 points with three Grands Prix and a Sprint event to go.
