Verstappen defends Perez: 'Hasn't been an easy season for us'

Sergio Perez is experiencing a difficult season at Red Bull Racing. While Max Verstappen clinched his fourth Formula 1 title in Las Vegas, the Mexican has not been on the podium for a long time. Verstappen has since spoken out about his teammate in F1.
'It wasn't an easy season for either of us'
While Verstappen realised his fourth world title, Perez made it clear that he and the car, are not a happy marriage. Verstappen has since agreed. Before his magisterial victory at Interlagos, the Dutchman had failed to win as many as 10 races in a row.
"You're always talking, speaking, trying to improve the car," Verstappen said of Perez to the media, including GPblog. "I also did not enjoy the car for most of the season in terms of handling but you have to deal with that, [to] try to overcome the difficulties, discuss with the engineers, how we can improve the situation and that's what we have done," he added.
After Monza, Verstappen was all over the place. The four-time world champion then indicated that it will be difficult to win any race at all in 2024, but he did indicate that the RB20 has improved a little bit. "car has been a lot more drivable lately, but we're still lacking a bit of performance to win races. But that's how it is, we just now need to try and find performance in the car. But it's been a difficult season, I think, for both of us in terms of driving the car in some places," concluded Verstappen.
