Jean Todt is disappointed with the way Ferrari have treated him in recent years. The Frenchman who was their team principal during one of, if not their most successful period, claims he has heard nothing from the Italians since he quit as FIA president in 2021.

"After I left, I still spoke to some members of the team. But since I left the FIA, I have never had any contact," he told Italian La Repubblica. "I must say I am perplexed, considering how much time I have spent on this incredible company and the many successes we have had."

"When I came in in 1993, the castle was in ruins," he reflects on his time at the Scuderia. The Frenchman explains that the design team was in Britain at the time and the wind tunnel was old and unusable. "Little by little, we turned it into a jewel," he says.

Todt, however, does not want to take all the credit. "I could not have done it alone. I was good at forming and keeping a team for years, making it a dream team. The 14 championships we won are still in the history books. It was the most successful period in Ferrari's history."

From Ferrari team principal to FIA president

Todt was appointed team principal of Ferrari in 1993 and has enjoyed a plenty of success with the Italian team to say the least in the years that followed. Under Todt's leadership, the Italian team won 106 races, eight constructors' championships and six world championships. He was elected the new FIA president and successor to Max Mosley in 2009. He left this role in December 2021, after which Mohammed Ben Sulayem took over.
