F1 Today | Hamilton faster than Leclerc in test; Cadillac make new hire

4 February at 21:00

Another Ferrari test has been conducted today, meaning Lewis Hamilton was seen behind the wheel of the Scuderia once again, along with Charles Leclerc in Barcelona for Pirelli's tyre test. Along with that, Cadillac continues to assemble its team for when the American team comes into the pinnacle of motorsport, adding another member today. And Sauber have also opened a team hub in Britain for the Swiss team to work out of.

Hamilton quicker than Leclerc in Barcelona test

The excitement around Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari continued today, as once again, the seven-time world champion took to the track for the Prancing Horse as a part of pre-season testing, along with teammate Charles Leclerc.

Today, they took part in the Pirelli tyre test for the Italian manufacturer, setting laps around the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. In a modified SF-24, Hamilton was able to find the extra pace to go quicker than his new teammate, as well as completing one more lap than the Monegasque.

However, that was not the fastest lap of the day around the Catalunya circuit. To find out who that was, and to also find out the schedule for the rest of the tyre test, be sure to click the link above to find out!

Cadillac hire their team manager

Cadillac are assembling its top team to oversee the American team's start in F1 during the 2026 season. Graeme Lowdon has already been appointed as their team principal for when they start in the premier class of motorsport, and now, they have brought in Peter Crolla as their new team manager.

The Brit will be looking to build up and make Cadillac a force in the world of F1, and after starting as race team coordinator at McLaren, he moved to Haas in 2015, becoming their team manager in 2017. Crolla has a lot of experience managing a team new to the world of F1, so it is a smart bit of business done by Cadillac.

Big change made at Sauber

Sauber Motorsport have made a huge move today, with a part of the Swiss team moving aboard to start operating in the United Kingdom. A new technical centre will be opened, named the 'Sauber Motorsport Technology Centre UK' expanding the team's presence for 2025 and beyond, when they become Audi in 2026.

The move away from Switzerland means Sauber and Audi will be able to attract many more engineers and technicians than before, something that will be of great help to COO and CTO of Sauber Motorsport Mattia Binotto, who said this move will "continue to lead our main engineering operations and experience the largest team growth."
