UEFA and FIFA suspend Russian teams; FIA reinstates emergency meeting

An emergency meeting of the FIA's World Motor Sport Council will take place on Tuesday. It will be a special meeting about the situation in Ukraine. The position of Nikita Mazepin will also be indirectly discussed.
Another FIA meeting on Ukraine
An FIA spokesman has confirmed to several journalists that the FIA will meet on Tuesday to further discuss the situation in Ukraine. Last Thursday, Ukraine was invaded by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The FIA already decided the following day not to allow the Russian Grand Prix to take place in September under these circumstances. The football associations, FIFA and UEFA, agreed on Monday to exclude Russian teams from international football. They are also cancelling their sponsorship of Gazprom.
The Haas F1 team also took swift action during winter testing in Barcelona by removing the Russian main sponsor Uralkali from the car. The seat of Russian driver Nikita Mazepin is in jeopardy as a result. Should the World Motor Sport Council take the same decision as UEFA and FIFA, Mazepin's season is almost certainly over. The statement from the FIA spokesperson reads: “Tomorrow there will be an extraordinary meeting in the WMSC to discuss matters related to the ongoing crisis in Ukraine. Further updates will follow after the meeting.”
