Sergio Perez recorded the most laps during the first day of testing in Bahrain on Thursday, but also caused an early end to the day with a crash at the end. The Mexican, however, saw the situation in perspective.

The teammate of Max Verstappen looked back on a very successful first day of testing. According to Perez, Thursday he could mainly provide his team with a lot of data, which they can use in the coming days. Moreover, he again got the opportunity to get used to his new car.

In the last ten minutes Perez suddenly found himself at the side of the track after a small crash. "Towards the end of the day, after the safety car I had cold tyres and just lost it and unfortunately went into the gravel," he analysed in a press release from the Austrian racing stable. "It ended the session early so hopefully everyone can have a nice rest now!"

Verstappen will be in action on Friday

Perez does not have to show up for Red Bull on Friday, as it will be Max Verstappen's turn to show himself on the track. In just over a week, the first race is scheduled at the same circuit in Bahrain, followed by Grands Prix in Saudi Arabia and Australia.
