Max Verstappen will start a new season this weekend with a world title in his pocket. The Dutchman made a good impression on Lawrence Barretto during the test days in Barcelona and Bahrain, the journalist writes on the official website of Formula 1.
Last season, the Red Bull Racing driver succeeded in winning the world title for the first time in his career. Together with his team, Verstappen was able to build a car that would allow him to compete. In a blood-curdling season, Verstappen ultimately defeated Lewis Hamilton.
As reigning world champion, Verstappen is under a lot of pressure this season. Expectations have increased considerably since last season. However, Verstappen himself doesn't seem to be suffering much from this, as he made a very relaxed impression during the winter tests.
Verstappen radiates self-confidence
For the time being, Verstappen does not seem to be bothered by the increased expectations. The Dutchman has always been known for his down-to-earth character and he seems to be holding on to that even after his world title. "Verstappen, meanwhile, appears to have grown even more confident," notes Barretto. "The Dutchman evidently glowing from the buzz of having the number one on his car after winning his maiden title."
