It looks like Porsche and Audi will participate in Formula 1 starting in 2026. Red Bull Racing expects talks between the team and Porsche to begin soon.

There have been rumors for a long time that Porsche and Audi will somehow enter Formula 1 from 2026, when the new rules for engines will come into force. This is because the new rules will make it more attractive for the Volkswagen Group, the parent company behind Porsche and Audi, to enter F1.

This week the two companies officially received the green light from Volkswagen, but it remains to be seen exactly how they will enter the sport. For Porsche, at least, the solution seems pretty simple: a partnership with Red Bull Racing.

Helmut Marko now seems to confirm that. In conversation with Sky Sports Formel 1 the Austrian says he thinks that 'the talks will start now'. According to Marko, Red Bull is 'the most attractive bride' in Formula 1.

Audi and Sauber?

For Audi, the issue seems to be a lot trickier. Initially, the manufacturer seemed to want to enter into a partnership with McLaren, but reportedly that deal is now off the table. According to the latest rumors, the company is now working on a deal with Sauber.

The drivers are also happy with the arrival of Porsche and Audi in the sport. Max Verstappen previously called the entry "exciting" and "very important for Formula 1".
