Hamilton possible honorary citizen of Brazil: 'I'm still waiting for my passport'

Lewis Hamilton may soon be an honorary citizen of Brazil. The Briton has never hidden his love for the country and now there are those who are pushing for a stronger connection.
Brazil has played an important role from the beginning of Hamilton's career. Ayrton Senna was the great role model of the seven-time world champion and in honour of his idol, he also designed several helmets. Over the years, the public in Brazil has also come to love him and that now seems to be paying off a bit more.
Hamilton to Brazil
''I want to spend more time in Brazil. There is such a beautiful culture here. I've only been to Rio (de Janeiro) and Sao Paulo, but I want to come back here for Christmas, New Year or something like that,'' Hamilton said according to Reuters. He reportedly has been invited several times by soccer star Neymar and surfer Gabriel Medina, but has never had the chance to come: ''I'm still waiting for my passport.''
A Brazilian passport is unlikely to be given to the Englishman, but Congressman Andre Figueiredo made a case for giving Hamilton honorary citizenship after the 2021 Brazilian Grand Prix. You can't attach a nationality to this, but it is an honour when you get it from another country. Driving the Brazilian flag was a unique action by Hamilton for many fans.
