Lando Norris and Mclaren return to the podium after a disappointing start to the season. After a lightning start, a clean race, and a mistake from Charles Leclerc, the Brit bagged third pace in Imola.

The surprise of the 2022 Emelia Romagna Grand Prix was Mclaren's Lando Norris who stepped to the podium for the first time since the Italian Grand Prix last year, incidentally the last time F1 went to Italy, and also incidentally, a Sprint Weekend.

Capitalising on a mistake from Ferrari's Charles Leclerc, Norris found himself in third place after running in fourth for most of the race.

Praise for Mclaren

After a disappointing start to the season for Mclaren, the papaya team finally get their first podium of the season. Speaking after the race, Norris could only praise his team.

"Of course a surprise. amazing race, amazing weekend. Much better than expected, I'm happy. The team deserve it from where we were at race one to now getting a podium," the Brit praised,  "A lot of time and effort at the factory and here. Tricky conditions so we've capitalised on these conditions."
