Max Verstappen put in a solid race on Sunday afternoon in Imola. Where Charles Leclerc was hoping to overtake his rival, Verstappen didn't have a moment's trouble and therefore deservedly took the victory. Afterwards it was also about Lewis Hamilton.

Last season the Briton was fighting alongside Verstappen for the world title, but this season with Mercedes he is nowhere near that level. In Italy, he even failed to finish in the points and had to settle for a thirteenth position.

Verstappen lapped several drivers during the race and that was also the case with Hamilton. Therefore, the seven-time world champion had to deal with the painful observation that last year's competitor could overtake him without a glance.

Verstappen reacts relaxed at moment

For Verstappen it was a special moment, although he stated afterwards at the FIA's press conference that Mercedes is not so good anymore. "They've been slow all year so it's not really a surprise or I feel happy lapping Lewis compared to anyone else. But it is what it is," said the reigning world champion.
