According to Jean Alesi, Red Bull Racing was lucky with the decisions the team made when tuning the car at the Imola Grand Prix. The wet conditions on Friday made it difficult for the teams to find the right setup, but Red Bull had a dominant weekend.

Max Verstappen had a perfect weekend in Imola and took home the maximum number of points. The Dutchman won both the sprint race and the Grand Prix, taking pole position and the fastest race lap. Still, Red Bull is described as lucky.

Conditions were challenging throughout the weekend with a rainy Friday and again wet conditions on Sunday. However, Red Bull managed to set the car up perfectly, allowing the team to grab its first one-two since 2016.

'Red Bull got lucky'

Former Ferrari driver Alesi believes Red Bull has been lucky. "In Imola, with the sprint race and the difficult weather conditions, it was impossible to understand how best to adjust the cars", Alesi tells Corriere della Sera. "Red Bull, with a bit of luck, went in the right direction right away. With three free practice sessions and normal weather conditions, I don't know if it would have ended the way it did last Sunday."
