McLaren takes over Mercedes EQ and enters Formula E

McLaren has confirmed on its channels that after expanding into IndyCar and Extreme E, the team will also start a Formula E team. The British brand does not have to start completely from scratch, as it will take over Mercedes' current Formula E team starting next season.
McLaren expands again
It had been known for some time that the championship-winning team Mercedes will no longer be present in Formula E after this season. Driver Stoffel Vandoorne has already secured a contract for 2023 with Dragon Racing, but the future of reigning champion Nyck de Vries was still uncertain. Now he might just be reunited with the team he has worked for as a junior for many years.
On his Twitter, McLaren CEO Zak Brown let it be known that he is excited about the new project: "Excited to take this fantastic team into a new race series, continue our sustainability journey and reach new fans around the world."
