Verstappen makes no bones about it: 'Remains something special'

Max Verstappen and Fernando Alonso believe that the Monaco Grand Prix should remain on the Formula 1 calendar in the coming years. Although there is criticism from various quarters about the annual event, both drivers feel that the track really adds something to the season.
With a six-point lead over Charles Leclerc, it will be especially important for Verstappen to set a good qualifying position this weekend. As it is difficult to overtake on the Monaco circuit, it is important for the drivers to get a good starting position.
Verstappen agrees that there is often little overtaking to see on Sunday, but defends the value that the Monaco GP has for Formula 1. "The cars are now maybe too heavy and too wide for this layout, but Monaco remains something special and should remain on the calendar as far as I'm concerned," he told De Telegraaf among others at the press conference.
Alonso agrees with Verstappen
The Dutchman is not the only one who has this opinion, because Fernando Alonso also still enjoys the track in Monaco. According to the two-time world champion, people sometimes put the focus on the street circuit a lot. "Overtaking is difficult, but it's the same in Singapore, Budapest and Barcelona."
