Max Verstappen does not agree at all that there is talk about a budget cap for drivers. The Dutchman sees that F1 is doing better and better and doesn't want to give up anything as a driver.

For Formula 1 teams, since 2021 there is a budget cap that teams must adhere to. In this way the costs are limited and (in theory) also the small teams can have a chance to perform well. Still, not everything is covered by that budget cap, including the salary for drivers.

Less money for F1 drivers

In recent weeks there has been increasing talk about a possible cap on these salaries. F1 and the FIA are said to be investigating whether this is possible, but the big teams are lying about it. Raymond Vermeulen already said that Red Bull Racing finds this ridiculous, Ferrari found it a difficult solution and Fernando Alonso also did not agree with this potential salary cap.

Verstappen was also asked about it during the press conference in Azerbaijan and according to Erik van Haren of De Telegraaf, he agrees with his manager's words. ''It's completely wrong when you see how popular Formula 1 is now, partly thanks to the drivers.'' According to Verstappen, the drivers put their lives on the line and therefore do not want to be limited. Lando Norris concurs with Verstappen's words.
