Max Verstappen is happy with how the tyres behaved in Azerbaijan. The Red Bull Racing driver had relatively few problems getting his rubber up to temperature. He further states that in his fast runs on the soft tire he was faster than the timesheet suggests.

In front of the Sky Sports camera, Verstappen says: "For once, it seems like one a street circuit we can get the tyres to work over one lap. It seems like the case for everyone. Because everytime you try on the second lap you end up losing performance."

Longruns Red Bull

During FP2, teams often focus on longruns in the second section, but due to circumstances, Verstappen didn't get further than three laps on the mediums. "Three laps it was, yes. A lot huh," laughs Verstappen, who is not too worried and indicates that Red Bull does have an idea which tires are best suited for racing Sunday.

The fact that Verstappen failed to match teammate Perez's time twice does not worry him. "Just a bit unlucky with my soft tyre run in FP1 and FP2 both times I caught a yellow flag and had to back out, but overall, we look quite decent." said the reigning world champion. "We just need to fine tune a few things."
