Mattia Binotto explained this week that Ferrari's immediate objective is not to end the world championship winningly, but stated that the most important thing is to be competitive this season. Max Verstappen let it be known at the FIA press conference that he cannot do anything with the statements of the team boss.

The Italian team has performed above expectations so far this season. Whereas the formation experienced a low point in 2020 with a place in the middle of the pack, it has since made great strides forward and has fought its way back among the top teams.

Verstappen remains keen on Ferrari's performance

Charles Leclerc got off to a great start this season and immediately captured the lead in the rankings. During the last Grands Prix, however, Ferrari kept ceding victory to Red Bull Racing, causing Verstappen to slip further behind.

Nevertheless, Verstappen is still seriously considering the competitor. "We just have to focus on ourselves and they're very competitive. It’s good for the sport," stated the Dutchman. "And from our side, we enter every weekend to try and win the race. But it doesn't change if somebody else of another team says something."
