Alonso trumps Verstappen in pit lane by small margin
- GPblog.com
Max Verstappen won the Azerbaijan Grand Prix with flying colours. In the battle for fastest pit stop, however, he drew the short straw, as Alpine with Fernando Alonso was a fraction faster than the Austrian racing team. George Russell finished in third place.
The Spaniard finished in Baku in a handsome seventh place. This was partly due to an excellent pit stop because with a time of 2.74 seconds he was a lot faster than most drivers. Verstappen did not reach that performance with 2.77 seconds, but could nevertheless not be entirely dissatisfied.
Russell and Sebastian Vettel were also close to this time. The drivers had to wait respectively 2.83 and 2.86 seconds before they could drive away from their place. Only these four teams managed to record a time of under three seconds.

Ferrari and Perez not in top ten
Sergio Perez did not manage to finish in the top ten, nor did Ferrari. Leclerc had to make do with a time of 5.41 seconds, after which he retired due to engine problems. Lewis Hamilton, Valtteri Bottas, Daniel Ricciardo, Kevin Magnussen, Alexander Albon and Lando Norris managed to finish in the first ten.
