Pierre Gasly had a good party with Max Verstappen on the plane back home after the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. The AlphaTauri driver reveals this in his preview for the next weekend in Canada.

"I went back home from Baku with Max and, as he won the race, it was a pretty entertaining flight", he told his employer's preview. Gasly himself had something to celebrate too, as he recorded his best result of this season by crossing the line in fifth place. " I was extremely happy with our Baku weekend – P6 on the grid, P5 in the race. It was a perfect weekend, with great strategy and pit stops, an excellent start and good speed."

It's a nice boost for AlphaTauri, as Franz Tost's team hasn't had particularly good luck in recent weeks. Gasly hopes to take the momentum to Montreal. He expects a real challenge at the Gilles Villeneuve Circuit, especially as the 2022 cars are quite stiff. "The big kerbs and the high speeds will be a real test as will the final corner and the famous Wall of Champions! We will have to avoid the kerbs a lot more."

Porpoising in Canada

In previous years, the kerbs were often driven over to set the fastest lap, but this season is different due to the different floor that is driven with. In addition, the track in Canada has a very long straight, so porpoising will be an issue again, according to Gasly.
