Hamilton smiles again: "A bit of consistency is coming back"
Lewis Hamilton achieved his second podium of the 2022 Formula 1 season by getting third in the Canadian Grand Prix. Mercedes had much stronger race pace and even matched Red Bull and Ferrari for short periods of time. Hamilton sees consistency fall back into place as he looks to move forward.
Slowly improving
George Russell has a 100% record of being inside the top five this season. The young British driver has had consistent results, but Hamilton has been up and down the grid. Sometimes he would miss out in Q1 but he was on the podium in Bahrain. The seven-time World Champion is pleased to see this aspect return.
"I have had a 4th and a 3rd now, a bit of consistency is coming back in finally. I know we can do better," he told Sky Sports with a smile on his face before going on to suggest it 'feels as good as a win'
Difficult year
"It's difficult for us all to be working and not always seeing progress. It's been such a difficult year for me personally. Qualifying yesterday was emotional for me, it was beautiful for us. We've been working so hard. To have a strong race today gives me hope and confidence we can move forward," Hamilton said. The seven-time World Champion is currently sixth in the World Championship as he prepares for his home race next time out.
