Ferrari did excellent business on Sunday given the starting positions of both drivers, yet team boss Mattia Binotto does not sound entirely satisfied. According to the Italian, Carlos Sainz had the pace to get more out of it than a P2. The battle with Red Bull continues unabated and at Silverstone the rival may come up with a big improvement.

Binotto with half a smile

This is how Binotto begins to Formula 1: "It was almost a good day, we had a slightly better pace and so could have had a better result." Qualifying was not strong enough, so the team struggled to show its potential on Sunday. However, Binotto says he is happy with the result, especially the number of places Leclerc managed to make up. The Monegasque drove from P19 to P5. "We even made up points on Red Bull. Winning is always better of course, but we are now looking at the next race."

Ferrari and Red Bull battle on

At the next race in Britain, the fight between the two teams will continue unabated again. Both teams are suffering from reliability problems. In Canada, Sergio Perez retired with what looked like a drive problem. Binotto can't say much about the Mexican's outage, but does know: "There is a reliability problem. We suffer from it, but so do others, so it's part of the championship this year. It will start to count."

The Ferrari team boss indicates that there are important races coming up and that the team is preparing, race by race. The preparation for Silverstone starts immediately and will be of great importance for Ferrari. Binotto: "I believe Red Bull will come with a big package of updates in the UK, so we will see what the situation will be."
