Sainz doesn't want a repeat of 2021: 'Hope for a clean first lap'

Carlos Sainz will want to do everything he can to turn his first pole position into his first ever Formula 1 victory. Will the Spaniard be able to fend off the inevitable attacks from Max Verstappen? Either way, the Ferrari driver is going to enjoy it to the full.
During a broadcast on the YouTube-Sainz says he will certainly send it in the first corner, but that he expects the same from all the other drivers. "I think we are all going to send it," acknowledged the Ferrari driver, who faces a tough but challenging first lap.
Sainz hopes race without incidents
Sainz says the first lap is always tricky at Silverstone because there are many places to fight for and the circuit allows for that. "Especially up to turn nine, as people know," he says. He is referring to Copse Corner, where Verstappen suffered a very bad crash last year after coming into contact with Lewis Hamilton.
Sainz hopes to avoid a repeat of that moment this time. "I hope that this year we can get a clean one," he stressed. In any case, the Spaniard says he is thoroughly enjoying the weekend at Silverstone, which is packed with fans.
