Jos Verstappen thinks his son can be satisfied with second place after the Austrian Grand Prix

"Of course you want to win, but on Saturday we already sensed that we might have some problems. Then second place is not so bad," Verstappen senior told ServusTV. Max won the sprint race on Saturday, but the pace of the Ferrari's already indicated that it would be an exciting main race. In the end Verstappen could not defend himself against Leclerc, who was a lot faster on the tyres.

Leclerc has gained five points on the Dutchman, something Jos is not worried about. "That is not bad at all." In addition, Ferrari are still struggling with reliability issues, as Carlos Sainz crashed out during the race after his engine quit and caught fire.

Verstappen could have caught Leclerc

Verstappen's father thinks the victory was possible. During the virtual safety car due to Sainz's car, Verstappen came in for a set of new mediums. "Five more laps and he could have taken it, also because Leclerc had problems with his throttle. They were much faster today though, so we can only be happy with P2," said the former Formula One driver.
