Full results FP1 Hungary | Ferrari and Verstappen well ahead
- GPblog.com
Carlos Sainz ended the first free practice session for the Hungarian Grand Prix as the fastest. He was a tad too quick for his former teammate Max Verstappen, who stayed close. The same goes for Charles Leclerc in third place, but the gap to the rest of the field is considerable.
Sainz fastest man in FP1 Hungary
With a 1:18.750, Sainz set the fastest time of the session, with Verstappen in his wake just over a tenth behind. Behind him was Leclerc, who in turn had to concede one and a half tenths to the Dutchman. The differences within the top three are therefore small.
Behind them, however, the gap quickly increases. Lando Norris clocked the fourth fastest time, but the McLaren driver had to concede more than half a second to the fastest time of Sainz. Norris in turn was three tenths clear of George Russell, who set the fifth fastest time. Russell was more than eight tenths short of the fastest time, as was Sergio Perez, who has yet to keep up. Lewis Hamilton had to concede almost a full second to the best time of the session.
