Emerson Fittipaldi believes Fernando Alonso still has the talent needed to win his third-world title. The Brazilian believes the move to Aston Martin is a complex situation, but if Alonso is given the chance, Fittipaldi says he will grab it with both hands.

At the start of the summer break, it was announced that Alonso will replace Sebastian Vettel at Aston Martin starting in 2023. The German is retiring after this season, and Alonso has made the surprising choice to represent Lawrence Stroll's team.

The team is currently ninth in the Constructors' Championship and far behind the rest of the field. It remains to be seen whether Alonso will be able to fight for the title with Aston Martin in the future, and how quickly.

'Alonso is the most experienced driver'

Two-time world champion Fittipaldi believes Alonso has a chance of a third-world title if Aston Martin can give him a good car. "Definitely, he has a chance. He is the most experienced driver, he is motivated and very talented. He has shown that this year," he is quoted by Mundo Deportivo.

"He knows what he is doing. A driver's decision to change team is a personal decision involving circumstances we don't know about. It is difficult to judge from the outside," says the Brazilian.
