'Hulkenberg in talks with Haas for 2023 F1 seat'

Two Germans look set to decide who gets the seat next to Kevin Magnussen at Haas. According to German Bild Mick Schumacher and Nico Hulkenberg are the two candidates for the seat at the US team.
F1 Silly Season
There are not many seats left for the 2023 Formula 1 season. Alpine is looking for one more driver, Haas has one seat left and so is Williams. At AlphaTauri, a seat may also become available in addition, should Pierre Gasly fill the spot at Alpine. So there are few options and many drivers who want a place in the premier class of motorsport.
The seat at Haas is popular. Guenther Steiner's team is seventh in the constructors' standings and certainly had a competitive car at the start of the season. With Kevin Magnussen, there is a fast and experienced man under contract and Haas is now considering its options. Indeed, the team has found out in the midfield that good drivers can make the difference.
It is no secret that there are tensions between the Schumacher and Haas camp. The young German certainly underperformed at the start of the season and has been losing out to Magnussen in qualifying and racing all season long. Other options are being looked at, but the nationality of the second driver seems to remain the same.
Hulkenberg and Magnussen
Indeed,Bild reports that Hulkenberg and Schumacher are the two candidates for the seat at Haas. Hulkenberg has been without a permanent seat for three years, but impressed even this year with his fill-in at Aston Martin. Hulkenberg would offer more experience to the team to drive the development of the car and could also deliver more consistent performances than the young Schumacher.
Yet Schumacher still has a chance to keep his place. Indeed, Haas is in no hurry to make the decision and appears to be postponing it until after the Mexico Grand Prix at the end of October. So, although Hulkenberg is reportedly already in talks with Haas, there is no immediate reason for Schumacher to panic just yet. He has three races to prove himself.
Should Hulkenberg return to F1 at Haas, the team will form an interesting duo. Magnussen and Hulkenberg were by no means friends, especially after the 'suck my balls honey' moment in Hungary. That is why Antonio Giovinazzi and Daniel Ricciardo also seemed to be in the running for the seat, but so now it appears that is no longer the case.
