Max Verstappen has secured himself the best starting point for the Mexican Grand Prix. He does need to keep both Mercedes drivers behind him, but the Dutchman is not worried about what they could possibly do at the first corner.

Verstappen is not worried

In qualifying, the gap between Verstappen and his rivals was extremely small, until the Dutchman eventually pulled away from the rest by three-tenths. "I think we were just chasing a little bit the whole weekend. But we finally got everything together in qualifying, so I'm looking forward to today," said the world champion during a broadcast of Formula 1.

George Russell and Lewis Hamilton will do everything in their power to take the lead from the Dutchman, but Verstappen is not worried about any overtaking ahead of the first corner. "We want to gain three places and go from there," Verstappen said.

Perez has a clear goal

Sergio Perez had to beat both Mercedes drivers in qualifying but is not ready to settle for third place in his home race. "I think we need a good start. We really want a good start and go from there," Perez said. His goal for the race? "We want to gain three places and go from there," he grins.
