Red Bull chief changed his mind: 'Then I started to enjoy them'

Adrian Newey is happy with the new regulations in place since this season. Speaking to Red Bull's official website, the Red Bull Racing chief admits that he was sceptical before but then changed his mind.
"When I first read the regulations, they kind of left me cold. And I do still feel that there are a few things that were perhaps missed opportunities. But it’s obviously easy to be critical," Newey noted.
With the new rules, the FIA was trying to bring the level of the different Formula 1 teams closer together to increase the tension during the races. Newey is therefore busy behind the scenes working on the details on the car and is thoroughly enjoying it.
"As we got into them, then I actually started to enjoy them. They made it quite complex. I think I can speak for the whole team—that overall, we’ve really enjoyed the challenge of this new set of regulations."
Newey sees shifts in midfield
In doing so, Newey is positively surprised by the variety of solutions seen at the racestables. The Brit sees that Red Bull, Ferrari and Mercedes are still at the front, but he believes there have been shifts among the other teams. He, therefore, considers this a positive development in Formula 1.
