Carlos Sainz does not believe Red Bull Racing will be elusive to the competition in the coming years. Red Bull and Max Verstappen may already have the world titles in, but that does not give the full picture, according to the Spaniard.

At the start of 2022, it finally seemed to be Ferrari's year again. With two victories from the first three races, a world title seemed imminent for the Maranello-based stable, but performance deteriorated as the year went on. Red Bull, on the other hand, made good progress and eventually walked away with both world titles.

Opportunity for Ferrari

''I feel we have chances. I mean, Red Bull has been dominant, but they've been dominant without being clearly ahead in pace and and… yeah, pure quali pace and race pace. So I don't feel like we are so far behind in terms of car development and car performance,'' said the Ferrari driver at the press conference.

Sainz, for example, points to his pole in America. There, the Spaniard was fastest over one lap and Charles Leclerc was second in the timesheet. However, the latter had to give up that spot due to a grid penalty. So the speed is in the car, but ground needs to be gained in other areas.

''We need to focus on is in trying to understand next year’s tyres. See how we can be quicker in the race because it's clear that the Red Bull is particularly quick in the race compared to us. And for the strategy, race execution, tyre management, that's another step that we want to take next year that we are already working on it,'' Sainz concluded.
