Sergio Perez can look back on a positive weekend in Zandvoort, where he finished the Dutch Grand Prix in sixth place. Now the focus is on the Italian Grand Prix, which takes place this weekend. Ahead of the race at the iconic Monza circuit, Perez talked about the problems with the Red Bull cars. As such, he also heaped compliments on his teammate, Max Verstappen.

Since the Miami Grand Prix, Red Bull have been struggling with the handling of its cars. For a long time, the Austrian team did not know where the problems came from, but the cause now seems to be now understood. "I think the solution is the same for both cars," Perez began ahead of the Italian GP weekend.

Perez honest about how problems with RB20 affected him

The problems on the Red Bulls obviously affect both drivers, but Perez stressed that Verstappen does handle it better than himself. "Max can probably cope with the problem a little bit better with his style than than I can, but ultimately, once we are able to solve it, it's going to benefit both drivers a lot. It might benefit me even more. On my side, I think the correlation issue we've had it for for a while, and it's there within a lot of things. I wouldn't think that that's the main problem," Perez explained.

"The main problem is that we probably took a wrong direction somewhere that we have to to understand it, and from then on, just try and bring the performance of the car in the right path, in the right way to make those big jumps check out," the Mexican driver added. Perez currently is in P7 of the drivers' standings, 156 points behind his Dutch teammate.
