Max Verstappen reacts to Daniel Ricciardo taking point from Lando Norris

Max Verstappen has thanked his former teammate Daniel Ricciardo for (potentially) one last favour. The Australian, who was driving for VCARB (Red Bull's sister team), pitted late in the race and secured the fastest lap. He didn't get a bonus point in the World Championship because he was outside the top ten, but he did take it from Lando Norris. This means Verstappen was able to limit the damage further during a dominant Norris weekend.

Verstappen's lead in the World Champion is now down to 52 points. For a long time, it was looking like it would be 51 points with six race weekends remaining. It might seem like a small point, but it matters when Norris was so dominant. Ricciardo, who was also teammates with Lando Norris, ensured that lead didn't get cut further.

One last favour from Ricciardo?

It could be Daniel Ricciardo's final race in the season. Rumours suggest that Liam Lawson will be placed in the VCARB car for the rest of the season. Verstappen was sure to thank him on the team radio after Gianpiero Lambiase told him.

"Your old pal Daniel picked up a fastest lap as well," GP said. Verstappen replied with a simple: "thank you Daniel."
