Montoya warns McLaren against Verstappen: 'He is going to dive bomb'
Juan Pablo Montoya has made a bold prediction for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The Colombian driver stated that Max Verstappen could be tempted into creating big problems for drivers fighting in the Constuctors' Championsip.
The Constructors' Championship will be decided between McLaren and Ferrari in Abu Dhabi as Red Bull Racing is out of the running for the title. Despite being unable to win the Constructors, Montoya thinks Verstappen could start to make a big impact by divebombing.
Verstappen could play a big role in Abu Dhabi
"I expect Verstappen to impact the Constructors Championship," the 49-year-old told Vision4Sport. "I think the constructors’ championship is pretty exciting. Max Verstappen could change that championship pretty quickly."
"He wants to win it and if he's going against McLaren, he's going for it. Because the McLaren needs to get out of the way if they are to win the Constructors'. And I think McLaren, in their mind, knows they just got to run around and bring the cars home."
"With Lando especially, and the McLaren guys in Abu Dhabi, if Max is behind them, he is going to dive bomb in there and if they turn, they're going to crash. But they cannot crash because they need the points. And Max knows that," Montoya said.
