Verstappen to follow Rosberg's footsteps? 'I'd understand'
Max Verstappen does not hide the fact that he does not want to spend his entire career in F1. He will not stay in the series until he is 40, like Fernando Alonso or Lewis Hamilton. Nico Rosberg believes Verstappen could follow in his footsteps of exiting the competition at the top.
Rosberg 'would understand' Verstappen
For now, Max Verstappen has a contract with Red Bull Racing until 2028, but he had a more difficult year with the Austrians. The Dutchman could carry home his fourth drivers' championship this season, but his team only finished third in the constructors' standings. Moreover, the driver also explained that it is important for him to spend time with his family and friends. Verstappen's first child is also expected to be born in March 2025.
Nico Rosberg himself left Formula One after he won his only world championship in the 2016 season. He does not rule out that Verstappen could make the same decision in the future.
"It is possible. Max has already achieved so much despite his young age. The intensity of Formula 1 leaves a mark on you, both mentally and physically. If he feels he has achieved what he wanted to achieve and wants to get more out of life, I would understand his choice," the German explained to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
