Brundle dubs Verstappen the favorite in 2025 with Red Bull Racing

Brundle backs Verstappen: 'He's the favorite for 2025'

If the book-keepers are right, Lando Norris is the big favourite for the world title in 2025. Predominantly Brtish F1 analysts also see the McLaren driver as the man to take his first-ever world title in 2025. Only Martin Brundle thinks otherwise. The former F1 driver and current analyst thinks Max Verstappen is going to be number one again this season.

Looking back on the test days in Bahrain, Brundle tells Sky Sports that Red Bull Racing's RB21 'it looked okay'. According to the Briton, a lot of the problems of its predecessor, the RB20 have been fixed, but he still saw Verstappen shake his head a few times. "He was spinning up the wheels. He was angry because the car went around on him."

'Verstappen just the favourite'

Nevertheless, Brundle expects Verstappen to successfully defend his world title in 2025. "I didn't sense it [the RB21] was exactly glued to the race track, either. But they were pretty tricky conditions [in Bahrain]. For me Max starts the season as the favourite," Brundle said, citing a few reasons.

"He'll be clear number one in that team and Red Bull should have fixed it [the RB20's issues]. He's so fast, so good, he knows how to win championships," Brundle said.

While the British analyst cites that Lewis Hamilton also knows how to become champion, the rest of the drivers at the top teams do not, but: "Whoever wins this year's world championship, will win a binding championship, that's for sure," Brundle concludes.
