Despite having to start the Azerbaijan Grand Prix from the pitlane, Red Bull Racing's Pierre Gasly looks back positively on qualifying at the Baku City Circuit, as the Frenchman says he finally feels good in the RB15.

Gasly has struggled to adapt to life at Red Bull since his switch from Toro Rosso, as the 23-year-old has been disappointing in his first three outings for the team.

He's looked miles away from his teammate Max Verstappen at times, and to make matters worse, he'll have to start from the pitlane for the race on Sunday after ignoring a call to go to the weighbridge after FP2.

Despite this, during Q1, Gasly actually logged the quickest lap of the session, surprising many people.

“It was nice to end Q1 in P1 but knowing we’re starting from the pit lane tomorrow, the most important thing was just to get a feel of the car on low fuel," Gasly stated after qualifying.

"It felt really good and it’s probably the first time this year I’ve felt that good in the car, so I’m really happy.”

Speaking on harvesting points for Red Bull tomorrow, Gasly thinks he'll have a good chance to end there, as he knows carnage is likely to insue at some point during the race.

“I think we have a good car here and I was hoping Max would get a good result in Q3.

"This race track is just insane with all the things that can happen so I will race flat out until the last lap. We have a car good enough to recover and score good points tomorrow, so I will push for it.”
