Charles Leclerc was fast-tracked through to the Ferrari car during the winter and has so far proved himself. However, the man from Monaco made a mistake during qualifying in Baku which ultimately hampered his chances of a race win.

The youngest Ferrari driver in 58 was hard on himself, but it's no real surprise to see Leclerc make this kind of mistake in just his second Formula 1 season.

The 21-year-old admits he needs to learn more about the "tools" which can make his car much faster.

"To be fast, you first have to have talent, but then the work done determines your final speed," Leclerc told Auto Motor und Sport.

“The experience gained does not necessarily make you faster but opens your eyes to the things that help you to be faster. I am still in the middle of the process of understanding the tools that make the car faster. Adjusting the differential for example, at the highest level, such small things make the difference," Leclerc added.

Leclerc should have won the Bahrain Grand Prix but had victory snatched away from him when his power unit started to let him down.
