Russell has mixed feelings with racing at Zandvoort

George Russell has experience of racing the Zandvoort track and the rookie has admitted that racing at the Dutch Grand Prix could be "impossible" even with the planned changes for the circuit.

The Dutch Grand Prix was confirmed to feature in the 2020 calendar in May with Circuit Zandvoort selected to host what is set to be one of the most colourful races of the season. The race was contested a total of 34 times between 1948 and 1985 with Jim Clark having the most wins with four.

Russell has experience of racing at the Circuit Park Zandvoort when he raced there back in F3 and he admitted he is looking forward to the fan excitement but the track could be a concern.

“I love Zandvoort,” Russell said as quoted by RaceFans

“We’re going there for, well, for Max pretty much and the Dutch fans, but Formula 1 wouldn’t be what it is without the fans so we need to appreciate that.

“But racing, it’s going to be just as bad as Monaco.

"But everybody knows what to expect when they come to Monaco, they know what to expect when we go to Australia, overtaking’s going to be limited.

"It’s going to going to be nigh-on impossible to race.”
