McLaren team principal Andres Seidl has said that his team believe that engine supplier Renault can give them everything they need to continue their excellent season so far.

McLaren currently sit fourth in the constructors' standings, 21 points ahead of the works Renault team after ten rounds.

Red Bull had plenty of issues with the Renault power unit last season, leading to them switching to Honda, and they had their first win with the Japanese manufacturer last month in Austria.

According to Motorsport-Total.com, Seidl said: "We are very happy with the partnership. Renault has taken a step since last year is also one of the reasons we took this step with the car."

Seidl added that Renault are good with making sure McLaren receive any engine updates at the same time the works Renault team do. He said: "Of course, sometimes we do not do it at the same time, because it depends on overall planning and how the season fits in to avoid penalties.

"We are an independent team and also want to remain an independent team."
